"One of these days you're going to be more famous than me."

Photographs of Borman Instruments

Photographs of these instruments were taken with assorted cameras and lighting conditions. Additionally each computer monitor may have differences in its color adjustments. We have done our best to present these instruments in their original color and hue, but due to these outside factors, color variations may occur from one instrument to another beyond the natural differences in each instrument.

This violin was made by Terry Borman in 2005 for Kyung-Wha Chung, and is a bench copy (intended to be as exact a copy as possible) of her Guarneri del Gesu violin made in 1735. This instrument is slightly more "antiqued" than is my norm as the original has been a very hard working violin its entire life.

This violin was made in 1999 for Jaime Laredo and was the third instrument he commissioned from me. He had previously acquired a violin and a viola. Along with his wife Sharon Robinson's Borman cello, they make up the first complete Borman Quartet.

This violin was made in 1997 for Pinchas Zukerman and is the second Borman that he acquired.

I have been a violin maker for 44 years and I am proud of the reputation I have built. I am especially proud of the fact that many of today's most well known musicians have acquired multiple instruments of mine over the years; affirming the fact that not only do my instruments retain their sound quality but that they improve with time. Although I have retired due to medical issues, I continue to maintain my instruments for their owners and occasionally help with resales.
